Mike and Rachel were selected as finalists for the ME department’s 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. They were tasked with presenting their research with one slide and a strict three minute time limit. Rachel was the winner of the People’s Choice award, good for a prize of $1,100!

Luisa and Rachel’s paper entitled, “Combined Effects of Concentration, pH, and Polycrystalline Copper Surfaces on Electrocatalytic Nitrate-to-Ammonia Activity and Selectivity” was recently published in ACS Catalysis! The paper documents the faradaic efficiency of nitrate reduction to ammonia at different pH and concentration with a copper electrode, with applications to wastewater treatment.
